Digitise SA is a free business support platform for South African entrepreneurs at digitisesa.co.za.
It is operated by Hodisa SA NPC, a registered South African non-profit company. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Hodisa SA NPC, and "you" means anyone using the platform.
Our registration documents are available to partners, funders and donors on request. We do not publish registration numbers on the website.
Contact us at info@digitisesa.co.za.
Digitise SA gives South African entrepreneurs information, templates and training at no cost.
We are not a funder or a lender. We do not provide money, loans, grants or investment, and we cannot apply for funding on your behalf.
We are not an accredited training provider. Our courses do not carry a formal qualification and are not SETA accredited.
We are not your lawyer, accountant, tax practitioner or financial adviser. Nothing on this platform is legal, tax, financial or accounting advice.
We are not a marketplace. We do not buy, sell or broker anything.
Our material is reviewed by specialists where we say so, and where it is not, we say that too. For any decision that carries legal or financial consequence, use us to prepare and then take professional advice. Our Disclaimer sets this out in full and forms part of these terms.
Everything on Digitise SA is free to entrepreneurs. There are no paid tiers, no premium version, no trial that expires and no upsell. We carry no advertising, so nothing we recommend is influenced by who paid us.
We do not sell your personal information. What we do with it is set out in our Privacy Statement.
If anyone asks you to pay for access to Digitise SA, it is not us. Tell us at info@digitisesa.co.za.
Most of the platform is open. You do not need an account to read our guides, browse the template library or download a template.
An account lets you save your progress, keep the documents you build in one place, and get access to each new part of the platform as it opens.
Who can have one. You must be 18 or older to create an account.
Keep it accurate. Give us correct information when you sign up, and update it when it changes. What we recommend to you is built on what you tell us, so wrong information gives you a worse platform.
Keep it secure. Your account is yours. Do not share your password. Tell us promptly at info@digitisesa.co.za if you think someone else has access to it.
One account per person. Do not create accounts in someone else's name or in a name that is not real.
Closing it. You can close your account at any time from your profile page. We may suspend or close an account that breaches section 6, and where we do, we will tell you why unless we are prevented from doing so.
Use Digitise SA in the spirit it is offered. Specifically, do not:
Our templates exist to be used. When you download one, you may:
You may not:
In plain terms: the document you create with a template is yours. The blank template stays ours.
Templates are starting points, not finished legal documents. Section 3 of our Disclaimer explains what that means in practice.
If you submit anything to us, including documents you complete in a course, answers to the business readiness check, replies to our emails, or posts in any community feature we open later, you keep ownership of it.
You give us permission to store it, show it back to you, and use it to run and improve the platform.
We may use what you tell us in aggregate, for example to report to partners and funders on the businesses the platform reaches, or to decide what to build next. When we do, it is combined with other people's answers and never identifies you, your business or anything you have built. We do not publish, share or sell your individual answers or documents.
Do not submit anything you do not have the right to share, or anything confidential to somebody else.
The platform, its courses, guides, page copy, design and templates belong to Hodisa SA NPC, apart from anything we have credited to someone else.
You may link to any page on the platform. You may quote short passages with credit to Digitise SA and a link to the source page. Anything beyond that needs our written permission, which we are usually happy to give for non-commercial use by other non-profits and support organisations. Ask us.
We link to other websites, including government sites such as CIPC and SARS, funders, and partner organisations. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or how they handle your information. A link is not an endorsement.
Where a partner or specialist has contributed or reviewed material, we say so. That credit describes their contribution and nothing more.
We aim to keep the platform running, but we do not promise it will always be available or uninterrupted. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, and we may change these terms.
We are a non-profit running this at no cost to you. Please read that as the honest setting of expectations that it is, rather than as an excuse.
To the fullest extent the law allows:
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act where it applies.
If you are unhappy with the platform, your remedy is to stop using it and, if you wish, to close your account.
We will update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.
If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the platform after that means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
If something has gone wrong, contact us first at info@digitisesa.co.za. We would rather fix it than argue about it.
These terms should be read together with our Privacy Statement, our Cookie Policy and our Disclaimer. Together they make up the agreement between you and Hodisa SA NPC for your use of Digitise SA.
