What we count, how we count it, and what it shows.
Digitise SA is free, so the only proof that it works is what entrepreneurs do with it. We aim to publish these figures every quarter, in totals, including the ones that are not flattering.

September 2026, soft launch
The platform was rebuilt in 2026 and relaunched in September. Counting starts here, so every quarterly report compares like with like. We have not carried older figures forward, because they were not collected the same way.
What we measure
Four things, every quarter
These are the measures each report carries. Where something cannot be counted yet, the report says so rather than leaving it out.
Members, and who they are
Counting
A member is someone who has created an account and completed their business profile.
New members in the quarter, and the total at quarter end
How many people who sign up go on to complete their profile
Members by business stage, province and industry

A large share of download requests on any public site come from automated software, not people. We report downloads only after filtering those out.

How we count
The rules behind every figure
Totals onlyEvery figure is a total across members. No report identifies a person, a business or anything someone has built.
Small groups are hiddenAny group smaller than 5 is shown as "fewer than 5", so a small number in one province cannot point to someone.
Nothing is estimatedIf we cannot count something, the report says "Not yet measured". We do not fill gaps with guesses.
Calendar quartersJanuary to March, April to June, July to September, October to December. Figures are as at the last day of the quarter.
Automated traffic is removedDownloads are filtered for bots and crawlers, and we publish how much was removed alongside what is left.
Corrections are shownIf we find a figure was wrong, we fix it on the report and say what changed. Old reports are not quietly rewritten.
