What changed

The Department of Electricity and Energy has extended the public comment period for the Revised Electricity Pricing Policy to 28 October 2026. The extension was published in Government Gazette 55436 on 22 September.

This is a chance to comment on a proposed policy. The consultation notice does not set a new electricity price for your business.

Who it affects

Interested people and organisations can comment, including owners who want to explain how electricity pricing affects their business. The draft covers distribution and retail pricing, among other parts of the electricity system.

What to do

Read the draft before preparing your response. Identify the part you are commenting on and explain the practical effect on your business.

Address written comments to the department’s Director-General, for the attention of Mr Joseph Maraba. The extension notice gives delivery channels, addresses and the contact details your submission must include. Use that notice so your response reaches the correct consultation.

Submit by 28 October. The notice says late comments will not be considered. It also extends a separate Electricity Sector Market Transformation Position Paper consultation, so label your response clearly.
